LOCATION

Nestled on the picturesque coast of Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Tacking Point Lighthouse stands as a beacon of history and natural beauty. Offering spectacular views and a serene environment, the lighthouse and surrounding headland are treasured by locals and tourists alike. The location is renowned for its prime whale-watching opportunities and forms part of the stunning 9.1-kilometre coastal walk that attracts visitors from around the globe. However, the area’s popularity also led to significant environmental degradation, prompting the need for an essential upgrade to protect this beloved landmark.

The completion of the Tacking Point Lighthouse Boardwalk marks a significant achievement for the local community. CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS 04 CASE STUDY CASE STUDY One of the key challenges faced during the project was ensuring that the boardwalk design met both accessibility and environmental requirements as per AS 1428. The landscape around Tacking Point Lighthouse is uneven and rocky, making it difficult to create a stable, accessible path. By using FRP materials and working closely with key stakeholders, DM Composites was able to develop a solution that balanced both functionality and ecological sensitivity.
