Located along the Ropes Creek Corridor between Whalan and Mount Druitt in New South Wales, the project forms part of the Great West Walk network, creating improved connections for walkers, runners and cyclists through the natural riparian corridor and surrounding recreational areas.

View Full Case StudyThe project required multiple elevated structures to be constructed within a sensitive and flood-prone creek corridor, where varying terrain, restricted access and overhead powerlines presented significant environmental and installation constraints.
Sensitive riparian environment
Screw pile foundations minimised excavation and disturbance to existing vegetation, while elevated FRP structures helped protect the surrounding creek ecosystem.
Flood-prone conditions
The structures were engineered for design flood velocities of 1.5 m/s, providing long-term performance during creek flood events.
Variable terrain
Each boardwalk was individually engineered to accommodate changing ground levels while maintaining compliant gradients and connections with the surrounding shared pathway network. Case Study Ropes Creek Corridor…
Restricted site access
Modular FRP construction and off-site fabrication reduced on-site works and enabled efficient installation within the constrained creek corridor.
Overhead powerlines
Bridge superstructures were pre-assembled at ground level and installed using a carefully engineered lifting methodology that maintained required clearances from nearby electrical infrastructure.
