Wollondilly Footpaths FRP Elevated Boardwalk

DM Composites delivered a tailored FRP solution, with suspended walkway sections, integrated Bikesafe barriers, and galvanised structural steelwork engineered for safety, strength, and long-term performance.

LOCATION

Menangle Street in Picton has long served as a vital corridor linking residential neighbourhoods with the town centre, schools, and community facilities. Once fragmented by narrow, non-compliant footpaths, the route posed challenges for pedestrians and cyclists alike. As part of the WestInvest community infrastructure program, Wollondilly Shire Council prioritised this stretch for a major upgrade—transforming it into a modern, continuous shared path that improves safety, encourages active transport, and reduces reliance on vehicles.

OUTCOME

DM Composites was engaged to design and supply suspended FRP walkway sections with minimesh decking, integrated Bikesafe barriers, and hot-dip galvanised structural steelwork to enhance safety and durability across the site.

OUTCOMES

  • A safe, continuous off-road pathway connecting key community destinations.
  • A structurally efficient suspended 35m long FRP walkway that accommodates stormwater and challenging ground conditions.
  • A durable balustrade system that provides safety while adapting to site constraints.
  • Minimal maintenance burden for Council, with 50+ year design life.
