Located at Currans Hill in Camden, NSW, the project connects residential areas along Waterworth Drive with nearby green spaces, forming part of Camden Council’s Active Transport and Connectivity Program to improve safe and accessible walking and cycling routes.
CHALLENGES AND Solutions
The project required a shared path solution capable of crossing low-lying, flood-prone terrain while protecting nearby vegetation and maintaining continuous public access.
Flood-prone ground:
Elevated FRP boardwalk sections allowed the path to span wet and uneven terrain without major earthworks.
Environmental protection:
Lightweight construction minimised disturbance to sensitive vegetation and drainage corridors.
Year-round accessibility:
Raised boardwalk design maintains safe pedestrian and cycling access during wet weather.
Efficient construction:
Modular FRP components reduced installation time and avoided deep excavation or heavy civil works.
