Located on the Western Port foreshore, Warneet North Jetty has long been a focal point for the local community, reflecting the township’s strong connection to the water and its role as a popular destination for fishing, boating, and social gatherings. After being closed in 2020 due to safety concerns, the jetty was rebuilt as part of the Victorian Government’s pier and jetty renewal program, restoring public access to one of Victoria’s historically significant maritime locations and reinforcing Warneet’s importance as a coastal hub.
Installation of prefabricated FRP jetty components delivering long-life performance in marine conditions.
CHALLENGES AND Solutions
The project required a solution capable of performing in a highly corrosive tidal environment, while allowing efficient installation within limited access and tidal windows.
Prefabricated FRP construction
Enabled rapid installation and reduced on-site time in a live marine environment.
Marine corrosion resistance
FRP materials withstand constant saltwater and UV exposure without degradation.
Lightweight components
Reduced lifting requirements and minimised disturbance to the foreshore and surrounding coastal reserve.
Low maintenance performance
Eliminates the ongoing upkeep associated with timber and coated steel jetty structures.
