The Island Point Road Jetty is in St Georges Basin, Shoalhaven, NSW, a well-known waterway that serves as a hub for recreational boating, fishing, and tourism. The jetty provides essential access for residents, visitors, and watercraft users, playing a key role in the region’s maritime infrastructure.
CHALLENGES AND Solutions
The Island Point Road Jetty repair required materials that could handle constant exposure to saltwater, heavy foot traffic, and the harsh coastal environment. Traditional options like timber and steel would have required frequent maintenance due to corrosion and wear, making them less practical for a long-term solution. With DM BEAM & DM GRATE, these concerns were eliminated from the start. The pultruded FRP profiles used in this project offer superior strength and durability without the risk of peeling, rusting, or warping. Their lightweight design also made installation efficient, reducing downtime while ensuring a secure, long-lasting fit. No additional modifications were needed to integrate the FRP components, allowing for a seamless upgrade that enhances safety, reduces maintenance, and extends the jetty’s lifespan. The result is a durable, low-maintenance structure built to withstand the elements without compromise.
