The Cherbourg Cultural Pathway is more than a footpath—it is a journey that weaves together culture, history, and community connection. Stretching between Cherbourg and Murgon in Queensland’s South Burnett region, the pathway has long been a dream of the Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council. For decades, local residents—many of them elders and children—have been forced to walk dangerously close to vehicle traffic along narrow verges.
EMPOWERING COMMUNITY AND PROTECTING COUNTRY
This project was also a catalyst for economic and social growth in Cherbourg:
✅ Indigenous Employment Plan: Created job opportunities and training for local residents during construction.
✅ Supporting Local Businesses: Materials were sourced and supplied in a way that prioritised regional logistics and partnerships.
✅ Environmental Care: FRP’s lightweight nature meant reduced machinery use onsite, minimising impact on delicate bushland and waterways.
DM Composites worked closely with contractors and council representatives to ensure our FRP gratings supported not only the technical requirements but also the cultural and environmental aspirations of the community.
